Join the Sweatbox Union and Squidgers!

Sweatbox wouldn’t be the vibrant community it is without the dedication of our incredible young volunteers. Our Sweatbox Union (ages 13+) and Squidgers (ages 11+) play a vital role in running our youth clubs and activities, and we’re always looking for passionate individuals to join the team!

Our volunteers are chosen for their commitment to supporting their peers and being positive role models. As part of the team, they help shape the future of our youth centre by:

  • Attending and assisting with youth clubs throughout the year
  • Sharing insights on what young people in our community need and want
  • Gaining valuable skills, experience, and personal development that will benefit them in the future

In return, volunteers enjoy exclusive socials, special events, and an opportunity to make a real impact!

  • By applying, you’re committing to regularly attending Sweatbox sessions and taking on the role of a positive peer role model.
  • Once your application is received, your parent or guardian will be emailed to provide their permission.

They’ll be asked to:

  • Confirm their support for your involvement in the Sweatbox Union or Squidgers team
  • Grant photo permissions (for use in Sweatbox-related media)
  • Support your commitment to being a role model in our youth clubs, your school, and the wider community
  • If you would like to add supporting documents, such as a photo, written file or voice recording please email these to sweatbox@kas.cambrianlt.org separately and indicate on the form that you have done this.

Just make sure you answer all the questions — whichever method you choose is totally fine with us!

If you’re excited to get involved, we can’t wait to hear from you!

“I volunteer with sweatbox to be able to support young people and to assist in providing a safe nurturing space for them. What I get out of it is an immense satisfaction from the conversations I have with the young people and seeing the impact I have on their lives.” – Luke

“I love volunteering at Sweatbox because it gives me a chance to give back to my community whilst engaging with the youth. It allows me to have the chance to work as a team with the other volunteers, and make everyone laugh!” – Liam

“Volunteering for Sweatbox at the weekly Beatbox session is so rewarding; it’s a real privilege to part of a team that helps to create a safe and fun place for young people with SEN to hang out and have fun with their friends.  I enjoy every part of every session, whether I’m manning the tuck shop, or being beaten at a game of Dobble!  The role is varied, sometimes challenging, but without a doubt, always entertaining!” – Hannah
